Supporting Information - Strategic Forecasts

Strategic forecasts for Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire are published every two years. The 2001 strategic forecasts cover the period 2000 to 2016 and contain three components - employment, population and housing, as well as taking on current assumptions on expected change over the longer period.

The Council's make these forecasts in order to provide a basis for their own service planning. There are two distinct, but related, topics:

the Councils' statutory development plans, the Structure Plans & Local Plans
the provision of services such as education, economic development and social work.

The forecasts are also used by a range of other organisations, both in the public and private sectors, for their own planning purposes.

The strategic forecasts have helped to inform the structure plan and will help in monitoring the plan.
