Our draft vision for the Aberdeen City and Shire area is:

“By 2030, Aberdeen City and Shire will be an exciting, modern and environmentally sustainable
European city region. Our communities will include everybody and enjoy the highest quality of life. We will be recognised across the world
for our leadership in renewable energy, our technological and intellectual excellence, and the
unique qualities of our environment.

To help achieve the vision, this plan will encourage new development to use land in a way
that has less and less of an effect on the wider environment. It will help all the industries that
support the vision to be successful. It will allow the area to have enough people, homes and jobs to support the level of services and facilities the
community wants, and will provide a range of opportunities in lifestyle.

In achieving our vision, we will:
• manage our natural, built and community resources responsibly;
• consider the needs of all our different communities fairly, now and in the future; and
• be confident and courageous when making the hard choices needed to allow change to
happen.”

	The Issues Report This document has been developed following focused, early engagement with community and stakeholder groups across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. It seeks your views on what the land use vision for the area should be, and what issues should the plan address. The Results of the issues report consultation are available here   The development plan scheme This sets out the programme for preparing the new structure plan. It also shows how and when we will consult people about the plan. This development plan scheme is the first to be prepared by Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeenshire Council. The document provides information on the following three important topics relating to preparing a new structure plan. Why we are preparing a new structure plan. A timetable for preparing the plan (the project plan). A timetable for consulting people and how we will do this. Download the development plan scheme here Report of Survey We have also produced a "Report of survey" which is a collection of facts about Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire which will influence the plan. Download the Report of survey here   Strategic Environmental Assessment A scoping report has been produced todetail how we intend to assess how the plan might affect the environment. This will be submitted to the Scottish Executive SEA gateway shortly for their consideration. We will be drawing together a group of people to help us with this assessment later in the year.
